What a weekend for 9-Ball! The McDermott Tour Stop at Shooters was the place to be
April 3 and 4th. Friday night mini tournaments kicked off at 7pm as the tournament
directors registered players for the weekend event. 46 players battled for the
limelight in the 64-man field and the $1500 that Shooters' added. Among the field
were 25 of our own local players whom we wish to thank for continually supporting
our events. Shooters put themselves back on the tournament map since designing their
new facility for league and tournament play.
After the players meeting early Saturday morning, tournament play kicked off promptly
at 10am whittling down to 16 players by 8:30pm. The event played on 7 locally
sponsored tables, each covered with new Championship cloth and sporting brand new
balls. The tables were opened and red circle cue balls were used.
One tournament highlight was JD sending Stan Tourangeau to the losers bracket with
a 9-4 victory. Justice was served Sunday in the finals when Stan served it right
back eliminating JD with a 7-2 win.
KLEW television in Lewiston promoted the tournament and aired the final match
including an interview with winner Stan Torangeau, who came back to beat Wayne
Boyd 9-4/9-3 for the title.
Tournament results:
1st $1500 Stan Torangeau
2nd $900 Wayne Boyd
3rd $600 Jason Marcoulier
4th $400 TJ Frank
5/6 $140 Peter Dimmick, Pete "Q-Ball Quande
7/8 $60 Marvin Nash, Jim Hickam
Top Woman $250 Linda Dick
Thanks for the generous support of our local co-sponsors who made the tournament
a true success. Thank you JD for stepping to the plate with your much appreciated
impromptu interview with our local TV station, also thanks to Max and Zane Martin
for designing the most player friendly facility around. A very special thank you
to Amy Boesen my assistant director, and Joe Horner for running our players meeting.
The concensus among players, both locally and out of town was "Great place, Great
People, Great tournament!" We hope our upcoming events will grow in players,
stature and prize monies. Keep your eye On the Break for our advertisements and
upcoming tournaments!
