The Poison tour made its way to Daytona Beach for its latest installment and attracted 94 players over the two days. Saturday would see 58 players show up for the $1000 Added Amateur event.

Joey Ryan who recently moved to Jacksonville, FL would make his presence known very quickly on tour as he would take down his first event. Ryan Route to the finals was not an easy one after wins over Adrian Reyes 7-1 and Angel Rivera 7-3 Ryan would take a 3rd round loss to an improved Brian McBride 7-2. Ryan would now navigate his way through the one loss side with strong wins over Eric Stanley, Jason Wells, Mike Delawder, Dave Campbell, Brian McBride, Tim Daniel and then a forfeit over Papo Aponte to reach the final. He would face Ramsey Barrett who had made his way to the finals with wins over Elvis Rodriguez, George Saunders, Chris Lulek, Mike Delawder, Tim Daniel and then Papo Aponte.

The final would be a single race 8 and both players showed why they were deserving of being there playing some exceptional pool and taking the match right to the wire, Tied at 8-8 Ryan would finally prevail  to take his 1st Poison Pool Title and the $600 in prize money.

Sunday’s $1000 Added Open event would draw 36 players. Tommy Kennedy was in attendance and was looking to extend his record of back to back wins to 5. With the Likes of Mike Davis, Tony Crosby, Julio Aquino, Josh Degler and Adam Wheeler in attendance he would have to bring his A game once again.

Julio Aquino fresh of his 2nd place finish in the last event was looking strong on the day making his way through to the hotaseat match with wins over Kelly Lake 7-5, Wesley White 7-2, Mike Davis 7-4 and then Richard Knight 7-5 to get into the winners side final. Kennedy would also find himself in the finals once again having recorded wins over Johnny Reeves 7-0, Chris Lulek 7-2, Carlos Torres 7-3, and then George Saunders 7-5. The hotseat match was one way traffic, with Kennedy taking Aquino down 7-1 to prove why he is top dog on tour. While all this was going on Mike Davis had worked his way back to the finals with wins over Adam Wheeler, George Saunders, Joe Scarborough and then a tight 6-5 win over Aquino to get into the final with Kennedy.

Davis was looking the stronger of the two as rack were traded and Davis would make it to 8-6 up and just when looking like stopping Kennedy’s famous run an easy miss on an 8 ball would end that dream and Kennedy would squeak the last 3 games to take his 5th title in a row which is a tremendous achievement with the high standard of play on tour.
