The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) is pleased to announce that Ozone Billiards will sponsor the Junior Nationals Scholarship awards. Ozone Billiards is one of the nation’s largest retailers of billiards supplies. They continue to strengthen our sport by pledging to sponsor junior billiard programs. “We are grateful for the commitment and generosity of Ozone Billiards in promoting education and encouraging the development of billiards among youth,” said Tom Riccobene, President of the BEF.

“Ozone Billiards is committed to growth of the billiards industry by investing in our youth.  We are proud to be part of the Billiards Education Foundation and we are honored to be able to assist these young men and women achieve a higher education. Our scholarship commitment to the BEF will not be a one year commitment.  We plan on supporting these scholarships for many years,” stated Shawn Gargano, President of Ozone Billiards.

The 22nd Annual Junior National 9-Ball Championships will be held at Northern Illinois University (NIU), July 7-11, 2010. The Ozone Billiards BEF Junior Nationals Scholarship awards will benefit the top 8 finishers within the 4 division event. Over 100 junior billiard athletes, ages 7-19, will be competing for scholarships, prizes and an opportunity to participate in the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) World Junior 9-Ball Championships. Scholarship Opportunities for High School Seniors

(Billiard Education Foundation)The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) is pleased to announce that they are accepting applications for the 2010 scholarship awards. The BEF Academic Scholarship Program is administered annually under the direction and guidance of the BEF Board of Trustees. Applications must be postmarked no later than April 1, 2010 and can be downloaded by going to the BEF website at www.BilliardEducation.org.

The BEF Academic Scholarship Program is divided into two categories: Excellence in Education scholarship (one $5,000 scholarship awarded over a two-year term) and Aiming for Higher Education scholarships (seven individual scholarships at $1,000 each). The objective of the BEF Academic Scholarship Program is to grant scholarships to high school seniors who have benefited from the sport of billiards and are pursuing a college education.

Prospects must adhere to the following scholarship criteria: 1) hold a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale); 2) must have an ACT score of at least 23 or SAT combined score (critical reading + math) of 1050 or higher; 3) submit a 500-1000 word essay on how billiards has been an integral part of their life; 4) must be accepted to an accredited undergraduate academic program by June 1, 2010; 5) must attend an accredited undergraduate institution and carry at least 12 hours per semester.

The final application must also include a letter from the applicant outlining academic achievements, leadership and/or community service work, a description of the applicant’s background and career objectives, personal and professional (academic) goals.  Applicants must also submit an official High School Transcript and SAT/ACT scores.
