Ted Ferlo Has Passed Away

It is with great regret that we must print the news that Ted Ferlo has ]passed awat at the age of 47 from an aneurysm. Ted, the Events Manager at Turning Stone Casino, was a fixture at all of the Turning Stone Classiic events and worked closely with Mike Zuglan on all 16 events over ten years. Ted was a very detail oriented manager and he would always come by when we were setting up the AZB streaming equipment and ask if we had everything we needed. If we didn’t he would provide for us. Once, when the upload speed was too slow for us he called an IT guy in from vacation to make it right.

After we got on-air he would always come by and again make certain that all was well. And he would make himself available at all hours. He would never go hide in an office. He believed in management by walking around and talking to people. This man will be missed by all who knew him and sorely missed by those of us who depended on him.

Ted is survived by his wife Mary Beth and by his two sons, Sam and Sebastian. Online condolences and funeral information can be found at the Book of Memories for Theodore Ferlo at Barry Funeral Home.

Joss Tour Announcement

Players & Fans,

I am extremely excited to announce the unveiling of my Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour’s innovative new format this weekend (April 10-11) at Raxx Pool Room & Grill. (W. Hempstead NY) www.raxxpoolroom.com 516-538-9896.

Once again our most generous host is owner Holden Chin. This is the second of three of our events Holden has committed to this season and he deserves many thanks for all he does for us. Raxx is one of the finest rooms in the Northeast with plenty of tables, a huge bar and Great food. Thanks again Holden.

As for our new format, here goes. There will be a Sat & Sun $1,500 Added main event with entry fees as follows. $120 for pro level players, and $70 for non pro level players. The tournament director will make the determination of pro vs non pro. I can tell you this much, if you have ever won a Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour event or similar event, you amongst others, will definitely be pro level! On Sunday we will have a $500 added, double elimination, short race to 3 tournament for only those non pro level players that were eliminated from the main event on Saturday. The entry fee for this event is only $20!! Both events will run simultaneously on Sunday.

The remaining events this season, with the exception of Turning Stone, will be played in this new format.  ALSO, Holden has purchased some of our tour sponsor products allowing us to give away a FREE entry AND 3 paid room nights at our $25,000 Added Turning Stone Classic XV 9-Ball Open (August 19-22). This prize ($550+ value) will be awarded to a player finishing out of the money in the Raxx main event providing they have never won a Joss event. We will draw the winner on Sunday just prior to the final match and the winner does not have to be present to win. The winner must however, use the prize or lose it. It cannot be sold or traded. If the winner chooses not to go then we will draw again. Someone will win! Once again thanks to Holden Chin!!

For those of you coming to play, please arrive on Saturday April 10 before noon in proper dress please. If coming to watch, spectator admission will once again be free for what promises to be an historic event! Complete tour info can be found on our site www.joss9balltour.com For accommodations there is a nearby Red Roof Inn and if you reserve a room through www.azbilliards.com you will receive a %20 discount.
