Vegas BCA

Paul Marquez

Wow I have so much to say. I have a hundred  real stories that could take page after page.  Instead of  elaboration,  I will attempt to minimize the pool celebration. Here we  go. What the hell, lets do it with a poetic flow.

“I spent the week in Las Vegas for Eight Ball BCA, ironically never hearing a  Canadian ever say “aye!”

My road trip was long taking five in a van,  there was Sean, Ron,  Tony, Tasha and Dan.

I played okay in singles but still wanted more, learned that pros can be cool but just  watching  a serious bore.

I hung with Dan Heinrick who was Mike Sigels hometown friend, Kimberly Kirk new my bff from beginning till end.

Sean Lewis saved my booty,  and Dan Louie has tons of class,  Randy Baker showed his real game, Tina P showed her ***.

I learned Dr.  Cue is as sharp as they come,  he gave me a lesson on focus and he’s really fun.

I love the people except maybe Jimmy from captain  Billy Palmer’s ship, I wanted to share my 4th degree foot with Jimmy’s fat  sharking  lips.

But Mr. Palmer was only classy and kind and all  thats cool, so maybe it was just me who overeacted an acted a  fool.

Watched Stan T torch Orcollo and Efren gamble it away, Mike  Yamauchi kicks Open booty but occassionally dogs an eight.

Going home  on a Greyhound had to hock my cues,  have new respect for hometown  players especially Pat or as you know as the Shoe.

Met a Jamaican, a  Jew and a Jack of all trades.

Dealers, gamblers,  waitresses and  maids.

Back to the grind when I get home, going to be a grandmaster  some day, I already  know.

2010 Cue – Dean – “E” ™ Search

Cue – Dean – “E” ™ is defined as follows:

CUE – relating to highly spirited Dr. Cue “table trotter” presentation style

DEAN – relating to the middle name of Dave Edwards and Tom Rossman

“E” – relating to the “E”ntertainment, “E”ducation, and “E”nlightening aspects

of a person’s character and spirit

Note:  This novel concept is in honor of Dr. Cue’s close friend David “Dean” Edwards (1950 – 2006).  In 1998 Dave won the BCA National Open 8-Ball Championship in Las Vegas, NV.  Shortly after that Dr. Cue suggested that Dave take on the catchy and unique pool playing entertainment moniker of Cue – Dean – “E” – due in large part to his sterling victory and “escapade” against 1300+ players.  Dave never used this nickname attachment; therefore, it seems fitting and proper to present it in  an appropriate manner respective of Dave’s contributions and ambassadorship within the billiard industry, plus his attraction to and fascination with Artistic Pool (“trick shots and so much more”).

Marty and I have changed the selection process for designating the Cue – Dean – “E” honoree for 2010.  The three – fold meaning of what the “E” in Cue – Dean – “E” is all about will be considered in light of the overall “search” guideline factors that follow (All 3 must be fulfilled / confirmed):

“E”ntertainment – This factor may be fulfilled in one of the following ways:

Established entertainment experience documented via written statements of recommendation / review (3 minimum) for past exhibitions / shows performed

Provision of “talent footage” (5 minutes maximum) via regular mail service, email attachment, or online “link” access for submission viewing

Personal acknowledgement by Dr. Cue and Ms. Cue of a person’s “known” entertainment character value via phone or email confirmation (765.795.4968 or drcue@artisticpool.org)

“E”ducation – This factor may be fulfilled in one of the following ways:

Established education experience documented via written statements of recommendation / review (3 minimum) for teaching done in the regular and / or artistic side of our sport

Personal acknowledgement by Dr. Cue and Ms. Cue of a person’s “known” education / teaching value via phone or email confirmation (see phone and email information above)

“E”nlightening – This factor may be fulfilled in one of the following ways:

Written submission document on “artistic pool” (Word or PDF format – 500 word maximum)

Audio or video submission on “artistic pool” (CD / DVD format – 5 minutes maximum)

Note:  Submission topics may include: your reflection on the beauty, promise, and vision of our sport; your opinion on the future of our sport (including youth development); and / or personal benefits / joys you receive from “trick shots & so much more” as an Artistic Pool Playing Artist.
