Mississippi State Championships

Nov 5-8, 2009- The Viking Cue Tour’s Mississippi State Championships hosted by The Green Room in Jackson, MS kicked off on Thrusday nite with the 1 pocket tournament that finished up on Friday followed by a 9-Ball tournament that would kick off on Saturday and finish up on Sunday.  The Vikng Cue Tour’s Mississippi State Championships paid out over $17,000 in prize monies and drew in 74 participants.

The 1 pocket would come down to Rafael Martinez vs Scott Rabon.  Rabon would claim the win after defeating Larry Nevel 3-1, with a score of 5-4.

The Vikng Cue Tour’s Mississippi State 9-Ball Event kicked off on Saturday and finished up on Sunday nite.  The event would present a few upsets as Shawn Putnam would be defeated by Jason Evans sending him to the one loss side where he would be put out of the event by by Josh O’Neal placing Putnam in 5/6th.

Larry Nevel would also be sent to the one loss side early in the event by Putnam and would end up in 4th place as Josh O’Neal would send him home with a score of  11-10.

Brian White would be the one to take home the title of 2009 Mississippi State 9-Ball Champion as he make his way thru the brackets undefeated and finished up in set one of the double elmination format defeating Josh O’Neal, who had reaked havoc on the one loss side of the brackets making his way back to the semi finals, 11-5 to claim the win.

We would also like to remind players in the area of the upcoming Fall Follies hosted by Southern Billiards, the event is Nov. 20th and21st.  It guarantees $1000 to first place. The entry fee for this event is $75  and the field is limited to 64 players, with a format of race to 7, double elimination.
