The Bozeman, Montana City League Tournament was held April 8-11, 2010 to determine which teams will represent Rocky Mountain Gaming during the 2010 VNEA International Championships in Las Vegas in May. This tournament was held at the Molly Brown in Bozeman.

The Bozeman VNEA Leagues has always been about winning the tournament at the end of league to win the trip to Las Vegas. The team that wins gets their entry paid into the team event, their hotel paid, and travel money besides winning money from the tournament itself. This has always been an honor to the teams that you win your expenses paid. You can always go in singles or as a team if you desire to but most do not. Having Rocky Mountain Gaming pay the teams way has been the ultimate prize and the spoils of the league season. The Bozeman City tournament sends two teams with their expenses paid.  We would like to thank Rocky Mountain Gaming Don Lutes and Richard Petty. This is Don Lutes’ last year as league operator, Rich will be taking over in the fall of 2010.

Cats Paw #5 won the event and the other team going to Vegas will be Eagles #3 consisting of Mike Akerlow, John Geer, Jon Kaphammer, Jason Lucht and Charlie Smith

Warnock “The Scottish Lion” wins Sandcastle Billiards

Stewart Warnock “The Scottish Lion” wins Sandcastle Billiards’  A/D 9 Ball Ti-State Tour event. Held at Sandcastle Billiards in Edison, NJ – April 17, 2010

(photo: 2nd place - Randy Schwager of PA; 1st place - Stewart Warnock, and right most, 3rd place - George Osipovitch)

In route to his victory, Stewart had wins over: Wali Muhammed  7 – 5; Brian Hunter 7 – 3; and Gary Murgia 7 – 2. Then, in the battle for the hot seat, suffered a loss to Randy Schwager 7 – 6.

On the loss side, Stewart defeated Serrafin Serrano 7 – 5; Ron Mason 8 – 5; and George Osipovitch 8 – 5 to get to the finals.

In the return match against Randy, each player took turns taking the lead and, at a crucial (6 – 6) moment Stewart took andvantage of the opportunities winning 3 in a row for  the tournament victory.

On the human interest side of this event, one player displayed the tenacity of womamhood. Adriane Rivera, a D+ player, competed 8 months pregnant! Despite carrying an extra 30 pounds and all the other stresses, Adriane gave a lot of players a run for there money with a 4 – 2 win/loss record and a double hill match that could have easily gone her way.

The Tri State Tour would like to thank Sterling – Gaming; Fury Cues; Stealth Cues and Ozone Billiards, and Phil Capelle for their support.

2nd – $430 – Randy Schwager
